JUDGING 评审说明
All judging will be performed internally by the jury. First and foremost, submitted works will be judged on the strength of their emotive and narrative elements, with technical excellence as secondary criteria. Participating artists must demonstrate clarity of thought and emotion in their finished images.

Kyle Swen
Kyle Swen Born in Minnesota, Kyle laid down paint and spun wrenches until studying eventually led him out to California where he received his Bachelors degree in design from San Jose State University. After graduating, he designed at Lunar and Tandem computers (now HP) respectively, before helping launch ASTRO studios in
1994.
Since Astro’s birth, Kyle has been at the creative helm and has led multitudes of diverse programs at ASTRO for many of the world’s leading corporations, such as; Nike, HP, Alienware, Herman Miller, Calloway Golf and Virgin just to name a few. Kyle has gained recognition in ID Magazine, IDEA, IDSA, Red Dot, as well as 2 Business Week/IDSA Design of the Decade Awards.

Adam Benton
Adam Benton is a freelance CG illustrator and animator from the UK. His influences are listed as Harryhausen, Heinlein, Asimov and Ralph McQuarrie. As he gathered clients, his style expanded from science fiction to prototype product designs and he found places in Ballistic's EXPOSé and EXOTIQUE books with some amazing imagery. He has designed and illustrated many conceptual and futuristic gadgets using Photoshop and CINEMA 4D for a number of companies worldwide, depicting tech by Apple, Nintendo, Saatchi & Saatchi, Microsoft and Sony.

Pascal Blanche
Pascal Blanche is a French Canadian 3D artist, with a history stemming back to the early 90s with TILT magazine in Paris. He is greatly valued for his skill in art direction and character development. In the past ten years, he has worked for Ubisoft on Assassins Creed, Myst IV as well as Naruto: Rise of the Ninja and James Cameron's Avatar: The Game. He's also done great work for Autodesk, Microsoft, Fantasy Flight Games and Wizards of the Coast. He was awarded Grand Master in Ballistic's EXPOSé 4. He is presently the Art Director at Jagex in Cambridge, England, working on 'Runescape'.

Steven Stahlberg
Steven Stahlberg has spent twenty five years as a professional artist, working in Sweden, Australia, Malaysia and now the USA. Steven created the first digital character to be sponsored by a major modeling agency (Elite), back in 1999. He became most famous for his incredible female forms, and featured as cover artist on Ballistic's very first book, EXPOSé 1.
He has won Autodesk's Maya Master Award, taught all over the world and held many sold-out CGWorkshops here at CGSociety. He now lives in Atlanta and works for CCP.

Arnoldas Vitkus
Winner of NVArt 5: Accelerate. Currently I'm an art school graduate and a self taught CG artist, working for six years now. I've drawn since early childhood and later in art school I received a strong foundation in drawing and sculpture, as well as other traditional arts.
My passion for sci-fi and fantasy introduced me to the wonders of CGI which helps visualize my ideas into a believable shape. I continue working with CG as a main subject with a focus on character art, and I'm currently building a portfolio to further pursue my career in CG. If I have a chance I always try to take part in CG competitions like NVArt and CGChallenge.
NVArt 5获奖者。目前我从艺术学校毕业,并且自学CG艺术已经6年了,在很小的时候,我变开始进入在艺术学校学习,这为我绘画、雕塑以及其他传统艺术方面打下了坚实技术的基础。

David Wright
David Wright has a long history as a 3D artist. He progressed to making architectural renderings for the real estate market and lots of successful TV commercials. Later, he co-founded ‘Artmaze’, still one of the leading providers of integrated 3D animated visuals and multimedia services for Real Estate developers. Wright was invited to join the USA arm of the European graphics software company ‘Realviz’ as a VP of AEC Marketing, with the task of expanding and shaping their image-based modeling and camera tracking software for the AEC market. Two years later he joined NVIDIA as the head of Creative & Design and exercises his true passions, 3D & Design. David holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University in California, majoring in 3D Computer Modeling.

Leigh van der Byl
Leigh has been working in the visual effects industry for almost nine years. Starting in her native city of Cape Town, South Africa in 2000, she worked as a CG generalist in VFX for television commercials, music videos and documentaries for over four years, before moving to the USA where she worked as a texture painter, and occasionally as a lighting artist and modeler, on numerous features, including ‘The Aviator’, ‘Sin City’, ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘Snakes on a Plane’ and the critically acclaimed art film, ‘The Pan's Labyrinth’.
She moved to England in 2006, and has worked at a number of London's high profile film VFX shops, painting textures for films including ‘Stardust’, ‘Underdog’, and VFX Oscar winner ‘The Golden Compass’, in addition to the epic feature ‘Australia’, Framestore's animated adventure, ‘The Tale of Despereaux’, and ‘Clash of the Titans’. She currently works as a senior texture painter at The Moving Picture Company.
Somehow she also finds the time to regularly contribute articles to 3DWorld Magazine, play too much XBox, study for a degree in ancient history and archaeology, and admin the forums on CGTalk, where she can often be found adding to her postcount, which currently reads like a population statistic of a small city.

Mark Snoswell
Dr Mark Snoswell is President of The CGSociety, Publisher & Art Director of Ballistic Media and founder of Ballistic Media. Mark keeps a fairly low public profile choosing to work behind the scenes. Mark has been a major contributor to recent CGChallenges writing much of the inspirational and technical support material.
His diverse range of experiences include: development of Absolute Character Tools (www.cgCharacter.com); development of The Ultimate Human Model set; film production work for Disney and Warner Brothers; production work for National Geographic; and teaching graphic design, 3ds Max and Painter. Mark’s background includes multimedia design and a career in biotechnology R&D. TERMS & CONDITIONS条款与条件
1. Entrants must be 18 years or older. 参赛者必须年满18岁或以上。
2. Individual entrants only. 只允许个人参赛。
3. Entrants are not permitted to enter works on behalf of any other individual or entity.

4. All entries should be original and not a derivative of existing work,including works previously entered in this competition, excepting the case of "in the style of" competitions where the works may be in the style of the artist designated but may not be so close to a particular work to be a clear derivative.

5. All entrants must be registered with CGTalk or CGSociety and agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions as described here.

6. Multiple entries are permitted. 允许多幅作品投稿。
7. Entries should remain unpublished outside of CGSociety prior to the close of the challenge. 参赛作品要求在CGSociety之外未发表过的。
8. Images must conform to nominal decency guidelines. Any image deemed to contain content that depicts violence, racial, political, religious, and sexual or any other inflammatory material in an inappropriate manner will be disqualified and removed. Interpretation of what is, and is not, appropriate material is at the sole discretion of Ballistic Media.
作品内容要求庄重得体。任何被认为描述暴力,种族,政治,宗教,色情,及其他煽动性质的作品,将被取消参赛资格。界定标准,由Ballistic独家裁定。
9. Neither Ballistic Media nor its sponsor will be held responsible for late entries for any reason whatsoever. It is the sole responsibility of the entrants to make reasonable allowances for upload times and to plan accordingly Ballistic及其赞助商对延期提交的作品不负任何责任。参赛者个人负责上传时间及相应的各种期限规划。
10. Entries will be judged on artistic and technical merit within the scope of the competition theme. The interpretation of these rules, the theme, artistic or technical merit of the work and any other consideration made by the judges is at the sole discretion of the judges.
对符合比赛主题的投稿在艺术性及技术性上进行评审。对作品的规则,主题,艺术性及技术性的界定等由评审团独家裁定。
11. Judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. 评审团有最终决定权,不得异议。
12. To be eligible for prizes, all winning entrants must provide accurate and reliable contact details. Ballistic Media will make all reasonable efforts to contact winners for a period of 7 calendar days after the completion of Judging. If a winner cannot be contacted within this period then they can be disqualified at the sole discretion of Ballistic Media.

13. Any import taxes or duties on prizes must be paid by the prize winner. Ballistic Media and sponsors will not make false valuation claims to assist winners from illegally evading any applicable duties and taxes.

14. By entering the competition the entrant warrants that they are the sole copyright holder and indemnifies Ballistic Media and sponsor from any subsequent claims that may arise regarding ownership, or any other claims that may impact upon the entered work.

15. The entrant grants Ballistic Media rights to use all entered works, in any media for sales, marketing and merchandising, provided full and correct credit for the artist clearly appears with said materials.

16. The entrant grants the sponsor rights to use all entered works on sponsors websites in the form of free public galleries, in any form of media, including, but not limited to, web galleries, physical galleries, downloadable form, wallpaper collections and screensavers, provided full and correct credit for the artist clearly appears with said materials.
要求参赛者授权赞助商在网站上,以任何形式使用其投稿作品,如:网上画廊,实体画廊,下载,壁纸,屏保等,并会在上述产品中标注作者栏。
17. The final model, both digital and real, remains the exclusive property of the entrant. 最后的作品,数字的或实体的,都是参赛者的专属财产。
18. The entrant grants Ballistic Media and sponsor rights to use the entrants name, imprimatur and likeness in conjunction with the use of their entered works in any media.

19. The entrant grants Ballistic Media and sponsor first right to publish their submitted work in any media. 要求参赛者授权Ballistic及赞助商以任何形式发表提交作品的优先权利。
20. Entrants commit to notify Ballistic Media in writing at least one week prior to the publication of their work in any media.

21. Other than the rights assigned in the preceding clauses entrants retain copyright of all entered materials and are free to use said materials for personal promotions.

22. The entrant indemnifies Ballistic Media and sponsor against any claims or indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages from any party that may arise from any use, including but not limited to, publication of entry materials submitted as a part of, or in association with the competition.

23. All artwork that is entered by the deadline is final; it cannot be removed or changed after this point. Ballistic Media will not return any material submitted or alter any entry.

24. The judges have sole discretion in the interpretation and enforcement of rules, including but not limited to suspension of categories and entrants.

25. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure compliance with all rules. Disqualification of any entrant is not reflected in any public change of status or alteration of their entry.

26. There is no agreement or contract between the artist and Ballistic Media. The artist assumes all responsibility and costs for delivering images and other required information to the Publisher for consideration in the competition.

27. Ballistic Media does not require any payment for entry of images nor does Ballistic Media offer any form of payment, actual or implied, to any entrants.

28. There is no chance component in the selection of winning entries. Winning entries will be chosen solely on the skill exhibited by the entrants as determined by the judges.

29. Ballistic Media will take reasonable measures to ensure the security of entries and information supplied to them. In no event shall Ballistic Media be liable to any party, for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the loss of images and data supplied, even if Ballistic Media has been advised of the possibility of such loss and damages.

30. Employees and relatives of Ballistic Media staff, sponsors and judges cannot compete in the competition.
